Think Blue Massachusetts
Launched in 2006, Think Blue Massachusetts is a multimedia campaign designed to inform Massachusetts residents about stormwater pollution: rain and snowmelt that carries pollutants from our streets to our our local waterways though stormwater systems. As the Think Blue campaign explains, any pollutant on the ground, from dripping auto oil to cigarette butts to dog waste to fertilizer, are whisked away by rainfall to a stormwater system and straight to our rivers, beaches, and bays without being treated. For more information please visit the Think Blue Massachusetts website.
Greenscapes
The Greenscapes program is a collaborative education and outreach effort, led by the MBEA on behalf of many partners, that seeks create an informed and proactive citizenry with the knowledge to act as responsible environmental stewards in their own backyards. The program is educating citizens and professionals about ways they can change their landscaping practices (particularly irrigation and chemical use) to have less impact on the environment.
Today’s program is based on the successful model originally developed on the South Shore of Massachusetts in 2002 by the North and South Rivers Watershed Association and the Massachusetts Bays National Estuary Program. We very much appreciate the willingness of these organizations to share their materials and expertise with other Greenscapes partners, both current and future. For more information please visit the Greenscapes website.
